Lusangazi, May 12, 2023, ZANIS….. The 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has facilitated the building and completion of five classroom blocks and a computer lab in Msanzala Constituency in Lusangazi district of Eastern Province.
The completed CDF projects in Msanzala Constituency that have been handed over to Government include rehabilitation of a 1 by 3 classroom block at Nyamphande Primary school at a total cost of K196,384.67 and construction of a 1by2 classroom block at Chingolo Primary school at a total cost of K299, 272.00.
Other completed CDF projects in Lusangazi are the construction of a 1by 3 classroom block at Kalumbi Primary school at a cost of K494,356.58 and the completion of Chamalenje Primary school at a total cost of K299,272.00.
A 1by 2 classroom block at Penje_Penje Primary school has also been completed at a total cost of K296, 554.44 and the completion of a computer lab at Mawanda Primary school at a total cost of K200,000.00
Msanzala Constituency Member of Parliament, Elias Daka who commissioned the projects stated that the CDF projects were being undertaken across the district.
Mr Daka said Lusangazi being a rural district, was overlooked during funds allocation in the past but the increase of CDF to K28.3 million from K1.6 million and decentralization of the utilization of funds has created easy implementation of the funds for development purposes.
He said the education sector was prioritised among other projects in the 2022 CDF allocation because the wish of Government was to ensure that every child was educated through the free education policy and good learning infrastructure.
” This 2022 CDF has catered for most schools in the constituency because Government has already provided us with the free education policy so now we have worked on the school infrastructure to allow every child attain good education including in the rural area such as our district,” he said.
The Msanzala law maker assured people of Lusangazi of more developmental projects in various sectors using CDF.
And Lusangazi District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Wiseman Phiri, who was present at the handover ceremony said the construction and rehabilitation of the classroom blocks in the area would alleviate challanges of overcrowding that were being faced by most schools.
Mr Phiri called on school authorities to take care of the facilities by guarding them so that they were not vandalized.
” We are happy as a department for this development as it will assist curb the overcrowding of schools that is faced by most schools in the area and I am urging the school Authorities to ensure that the buildings are not vandalized,” he said.
And Lusangazi District Commissioner, Mike Tembo said Government was working hard to ensure development was taken to all parts of the country as evidenced by the many projects being undertaken across the district.
Mr Tembo said Msanzala Constituency was doing fine in terms of delivering of the CDF projects and thanked Government for considering Lusangazi in terms of development.
” The Government is very serious with delivering development to all parts of the country as we can see, the CDF projects in our district are a good example,” he said.
Meanwhile Lusangazi Council Chairperson, Blackson Tembo stated that time for politics was over as Government was now focussing on development such as projects under the CDF.
Mr Tembo said the Local Authority with other stakeholders such as the community in Lusangazi were collaborating well in ensuring CDF projects were delivered accordingly.
” let us not dwell on politics but development as you can see these projects have been commission under CDF and the local authority is coordinating well with other stakeholders such as the community in the delivery of the CDF projects,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the community in Lusangazi, Msanzala Constituency Development Fund Committee Chairperson, Esnart Mwanza thanked Government for prioritising the education sector in the delivery of the CDF projects in the area.
Ms Mwanza urged parents in Lusangazi to stop the tendency of marrying off young girls but take them to school because Government provided both the free education policy and good infrastructure in schools.
” We thank the Government for these CDF projects especially that they have targeted schools, which is a good opportunity for parents to take their children to school and stop marrying off young girls,” she said.
